POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Assistant Groundskeeper is a part-time, non-exempt hourly position within the Maintenance Department, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager. This role is responsible for the care, upkeep, and appearance of the Ranchs outdoor areas, ensuring they remain clean, safe, and visually appealing year-round.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively. As a member of the Down Home Ranch team, the Groundskeeper plays a vital role in supporting our mission to provide an excellent quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities participating in Ranch programs.

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with flexibility required to accommodate the operational needs of Down Home Ranch.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform routine landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, and leaf blowing.
• Prune trees, shrubs, and bushes to ensure health and aesthetic appearance.
• Plant, water, and maintain flowers, gardens, and other landscaping features.
• Inspect and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper operation.
• Remove weeds, debris, and other unwanted materials from all outdoor areas.
• Conduct regular inspections of grounds to identify safety concerns or maintenance needs.
• Clean and maintain outdoor structures, including benches, fences, and walkways.
• Safely operate and maintain groundskeeping tools and equipment.
• Assist with snow and ice removal during winter months as needed.
• Follow all safety regulations and procedures while performing duties.

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Texas drivers license and ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
• Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service.
• Working knowledge of landscaping principles and practices.
• Ability to safely operate groundskeeping equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and blowers.
• Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and address issues proactively.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
