Position: Network Engineer

Duration: 6 Month Contract

Location: Fully remote but ideally wants someone local to the Chicago or Charlotte area

Cisco ACI & firewall/routing/switching experience is an absolutely requirement.

Job Details:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer with a strong background in data center networking and security to join our team as a contractor. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to critical network infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cisco ACI Management: Perform ongoing maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of Cisco ACI environments.
• Data Center Routing & Switching: Design, implement, and support data center routing solutions, including extensive experience with BGP and OSPF.
• Firewall Management: Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot firewall infrastructure, primarily involving Fortinet, Palo Alto, or Cisco ASA.
• Network Incident Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently in high-pressure environments.
• Project Support: Provide support for ongoing projects, including a Fortinet SD-WAN implementation and continued enhancements to our Cisco ACI environment.
• Automation: Utilize automation tools and scripting languages (ideally Python and Ansible) to streamline network operations and configurations.

Qualifications:

• Deep understanding of Cisco ACI architecture and related technologies (MUST HAVE).
• Strong proficiency with routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF, and extensive experience in data center networking.
• Hands-on experience with Fortinet, Palo Alto, or Cisco ASA firewalls.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
• Experience with automation tools like Python and Ansible is highly desirable.
• Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE or equivalent experience are a plus.

Project Involvement:

The successful candidate will be actively involved in the following types of projects:

• Fortinet SD-WAN Implementation (support may be required)
• Cisco ACI Ongoing Support, Maintenance, Configurations, and Troubleshooting
• Data Center Routing/Switching Projects
