Description
The Purser Clearance effectively manages all administrative guest and employee related matters onboard in line with The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection Gold Standards. Immigration and custom clearance, employee maintenance of manifest, records and documentation, and embarkation and disembarkation of guests and Ladies and Gentlemen. The Purser Clearance must maintain confidentiality of information and records.

Prepares necessary documentation to ensure the clearance of the Yacht for guests, and Ladies and Gentlemen upon arrival and departure in port; Ensures all travel arrangements and documentation for Ladies and Gentlemen disembarking and liaison with onboard leaders and corporate office for employee travel arrangements; Liaison with Port Agents for all embarkation and disembarkation procedures and requirements; Prepares a variety of reports, letters, landed goods forms and maintenance of guest and employee records as needed; Responsible and is aware of, and/or acquires the necessary knowledge to comply with the ship’s standard operation, in order to assist relevant members of the Shipboard team with inquiries; Maintains and distributes cabin keys for Ladies and Gentlemen in cooperation with the Security Officer; Sorts, communicates and distributes employee mail to respective department representatives; Attends the Employee Cultural Committee meetings in an advisory capacity; Supports the Human Resource Manager in the planning and execution of the social and recreational events and activities for Ladies and Gentlemen, such as cultural gatherings, game and sports nights, outdoor sports and excursions, etc.; Takes ownership and immediately resolves Ladies and Gentlemen’s concerns, follows up and notifies or seeks assistance from Human Resources Manager; Supports the Guest Services and Admin team with the internal audits and clearance procedures; Qualifications
Valid Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and flag certification for the duration of the contract and appropriate to position; Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience of three (3) years in a related field with minimum of high school or GED; A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a Purser or similar role onboard; Superior administration skills; Excellent English skills, written and spoken; Strong customer service, teambuilding and conflict resolution skills; Strong computer software skills in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) required; Possess a strong understanding of immigration and clearance rules and regulations related to Cruise Ship Operations;
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The Lady or Gentleman must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.; All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.; All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be able to communicate in the English language in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.;
